Laura González Badenes - Cellist Lucerne

Laura González Badenes

Professional cellist based in Switzerland, active in concerts and artistic projects across Europe

“The cello is my voice,
my way of connecting with people through music.”

I am Laura, a Spanish cellist based in Switzerland, with a versatile musical career performing across Europe. From an early age, I have understood music as a way to communicate, move people and create connections beyond words.

I began my musical studies at the Conservatorio Superior de Música, Valencia (Spain) where I developed a strong classical foundation in cello performance. Alongside this training, I felt a growing desire to explore other musical languages and to bring the cello into new creative contexts. This curiosity became the starting point of my musical journey and has continued to shape my work ever since.

In 2017, I moved to Rotterdam (Netherlands) to continue my studies at Codarts, where I completed both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in cello performance. These years became a turning point for me: I developed chamber music projects, collaborated with musicians from diverse backgrounds, and immersed myself in styles such as jazz, pop, Latin music, theatre and film music. Through these experiences, I began to shape a more personal, versatile musical voice.

Over the years, I have performed as a professional cellist in concerts, festivals, television productions, weddings, musicals, theatre projects and live film music, collaborating with a wide range of musicians and ensembles. On television, I appeared in productions such as Op zoek naar Danny en Sandy and Op zoek naar Maria. In musical theatre, I have played in The Last Five Years, Aida and Dear Evan Hansen, and in theatre projects, I have worked with the singer Isabel Pronk at the Dutch Classical Talent.

Further collaborations include live film music performances with Cinemusic Experience, orchestras such as Noordpool Orkest, artists and singers including Iris Hond, Paul Morris, MEAU, Magtel de Laat and YMP, as well as various bands in different formats. I particularly enjoy adapting the cello sound to each musical context, always in service of expression, storytelling and emotional impact.

Alongside performing, teaching plays an essential role in my life. I work as a cello teacher in Switzerland with students of different ages and levels, and I am strongly committed to supporting each student’s individual development. In 2022, I began training in Alexander Technique, which has helped me develop a more relaxed, expressive and efficient way of playing. I integrate these principles into both my own playing and my cello teaching, fostering a mindful and expressive approach to music-making.

Before relocating to Switzerland, I had the opportunity to perform in several venues in Lucerne, including the Wagner Museum, Château Gutsch, and Dreilinden Konservatorium, presenting chamber music projects. These experiences encouraged me to continue my professional journey in the country and strengthened my desire to explore new artistic opportunities.

Today, I combine my work as a cellist and cello teacher in Switzerland with creative projects, concerts, corporate events, weddings, recordings and interdisciplinary collaborations. I am available and open to new projects, collaborations and students, always with the intention of continuing to explore, connect and shape meaningful musical experiences.
